I had high hopes for this, was a little disappointed but might be because of my expectations were too high. I never fell asleep but I found a few parts to drag on too long and others happened too quickly.
Trying not to give anything away, the death of one of the characters was obvious that it was going to happen and then it just did. The island’s destruction also happened pretty fast – I thought there might be more to that. The movie was 2 plus hours so I understand their limitations. I can think of a few scenes that were unnecessary to the story that they could have cut and added some more to the stuff I just mentioned.
One surprise that I thought was pretty cool was the granddaughters origin – Maisie (played by Isabella Sermon). If you’ve seen the movie, you know what I’m talking about. Many child actors are not that great. I thought Isabella did a fantastic job.
I was a little disappointed, felt a little cheated at Jeff Goldblum’s lack of screen time. His character was the same as last time (pretty cool) but where he was giving his “speech” was lame – they could have done a better job with that.
Chris Pratt was awesome as usual and although he didn’t have a big screen time, did have an important role, Henry Wu was great playing the geneticist that created all the dinosaurs.
If I was reviewing the first Jurassic Park movie, I’d probably give it a 9 out of 10, maybe higher. If you were even a slight fan of that, you will enjoy this.
