Based on true story, good movie
The 15:17 to Paris
Based on true story about three us military saving people on train in Paris, acting was terrible, would have given it a 1 except actors were actual heroes
3/10

Wonder (2017, December 8th)
Stayed awake the entire movie. My expectations for this were low. Thought it was going to be cheesy, my eight grade daughter had seen this with her school, not a very good sign for movie. My kids had all read the book as a requirement for school.
Going in with those expectations, probably best thing I could have done. Ended up being pretty good.
I’d recommend seeing this movie. but DVD is fine to wait for.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017, December 16th)
Stayed awake for entire movie. Let me start by saying that I am 48 years old at the time of writing this, meaning I was about 8 when the first Star Wars movie came out in 1977. Probably the perfect age for this. I loved that first movie, really liked Empire Strikes Back, and thought Return of the Jedi was cheesy, but still enjoyed. I was 8, 10, and 13 for those three movies. When the next three came out about twenty years later, I saw them all, enjoyed them, but not the experience I had as a kid. When Force Awakens came out in 2015, I had a 13-year-old son, was pretty exited to get him into this franchise. I fell asleep a couple of times during Force Awakens, was disappointed. Had very little expectations for Rogue One, and was blown away . In my opinion, the second best Star Wars movie ever made, at least a 9 Star. So that is my background and perspective going into The Last Jedi. I knew there was no way it could be as good as Rogue One, I knew it would be closer to Force Awakens. So going in with those expectations, I enjoyed the movie. It was tough to not think about Carrie Fischer’s death throughout the movie as you saw her so alive on screen. I was concerned that the ‘Porgs’ would remind me of the Ewoks from Return of the Jedi, which I thought were a little hokey at the time. I am glad to say they were not. There was only one character in the movie that I thought did not fit her role well, that was Laura Dern as the Vice Admiral. Overall, I very much enjoyed this movie. No Rogue One, but many times better than the Force Awakens. I saw this movie at a private screening, all of those opinions given were mine before I sought out others. All those that I asked at the end of the movie, I believed were very close to mine. I have since been asked what I thought and have expressed the a aforementioned views, but have heard that many were disappointed. My belief is that they are comparing this to Rogue One and not Force Awakens, and if they were pushed on that issue, it might be getting much better reviews. It is rare for me to want to go see a movie a second time, I will be going to see this movie at least one more time.

Father Figures (2017, December 25)
Fell asleep at least four times, took my kids. My 13-year-old daughter was so unimpressed, that after about thirty minutes, she turned to me, and said she was taking a nap. Owen Wilson and Ed Helms are two of my most favorite comedic actors, and despite this movie, will still be. There were too many long gaps in the movie of nothing going on. The scenes with Terry Bradshaw were really funny. After the encounters with Terry, I can’t even remember who else they sought after until the conclusion of the movie. This is probably about a 45 minute part of the movie. I’ve seen about 30 movies in 2017, this was the worst.

Downsizing (2017, December 28)
Stayed awake entire movie. More serious than led to believe from previews. Made you think about if this option was available, would you consider it. Enjoyed that, like a movie that makes you think a little bit. Movie seemed a little long, brought my family, including 13-year-old daughter. Was OK with the distant nudity, was very uncomfortable with the explanation of the ‘8 types of sex’ (used the ‘F’ word) Although really funny, that one scene would be the reason I would deter anybody taking their children, and yes, I know they hear it “on the bus”.
Out of a ten star rating, I would give this a 6.
